Nadal Brushes Off Shakira Romance Rumours

A spokesperson for tennis ace Rafael Nadal has brushed off rumours the athlete is romancing pop star Shakira following a series of meetings between the pair. The Colombian singer’s nine-year romance with investment banker Antonio de la Rua has been under scrutiny in recent months as speculation mounts over her relationship with Nadal. Last March, Shakira reportedly cosied up to Nadal in Miami, Florida after watching the athlete qualify for the Miami Masters. The pair was also spotted dining at a hotel in Barcelona, Spain before shooting a video together in the city late last week. However, Nadal’s spokesperson, Benito Perez-Barbadillo, is adamant the pair is not involved romantically – insisting that he, Nadal’s manager Carlos Costa, and video director Jaume de Laiguana were also at the restaurant. He tells the New York Post, “We were all there, and Shakira only came when we’d finished the main course to have something to drink, accompanied by her manager, Ceci Kurzman, and Jaume. It was a dinner organised with the director to brief Rafa on what was expected from him in the video.” A spokesperson for Shakira declined to comment.
Estefan Gathers Stars To Record We Are The World In Spanish

Gloria Estefan is planning to bring together a host of Latin stars including Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to re-record We Are The World in Spanish to further boost Haiti charity efforts. Lionel Richie originally collaborated with artists including Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen and Tina Turner to record the 1985 single to help good causes in Africa. The singer brought a new selection of stars together – including Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Pink – for a new version of the track to raise funds to help the earthquake-ravaged Caribbean country. And now Estefan is planning her own remake of the song in Spanish, with Latin superstars including Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Enrique Iglesias, according to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. The blogger reports that the Spanish version – titled Somos El Mundo – has been completely translated, and original co-writer Richie has given his permission for the remake.

Shakira has vowed never to marry – because the tabloid press would make a mockery of her divorce if she ever split from her partner. The Colombian singer refuses to tie the knot with investment banker Antonio de la Rua, her boyfriend of nine years, because she doesn’t want their nuptials or a possible break-up splashed across the front pages. She tells Rolling Stone magazine, “It’s funny how the papers want to see you married, and then they want to see you divorced. Well, I won’t do any of it.” But the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker is keen to start a family with de la Rua, insisting they don’t need to be married to have children. She said, “My body feels like it is asking to reproduce, to have a huge belly and carry babies.”
