Shakira Unleashes Audio Stream and Cover Art for New Single ‘Loca’

Shakira has a new single called “Loca” and she has revealed it on her official website along with the artwork which is seemingly taken from the video shoot. A remake of El Cata’s song “Loca Con Su Tiguere”, it is recorded in English with Dizzee Rascal as a featured guest and in Spanish with the addition of El Cata’s vocal. Recorded in the Dominican Republic, Shakira brings her signature fusion of musical identities to this production of “Loca” by blending the horn-heavy elements of meringue with a synthesis of techno percussion laid out to a dance back beat. She will list the song in her upcoming studio album “Sale El Sol”. Commenting on his work with Shakira, Rascal recently told BBC Radio 1, “I know it sounds a bit mad now, but you’ll see it and see what’s going on. It’s me doing something different man, on a merengue tip.” He additionally praised the Colombian singer/songwriter, “[She's a] nice girl to work with – it was easy. It was one of those ones off the cuff: ‘Oh do you want to work with Shakira, she’s in town?… Yeah!’ ” Last month, Shakira took to the streets of Barcelona with Dizzee Rascal and a hand-held camera to film visuals for the track. In an attempt to capture the true interpretation of the song, Shakira opted to go away from the traditional big production music video to portray a spirited, fun-filled day being “loca” in the streets with the people of Barcelona. “Barcelona is one of my favorite cities and has become a second home to me,” said Shakira. “The video is just about having fun and being real in this amazing place with real people.” She is expected to premiere the clip sometime soon and plans to release the album, which includes 2010 World Cup hit single “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”, in United States on November 2.

Official Cover Art of ‘Sale El Sol’

Shakira has just posted an official cover art of her upcoming studio effort “Sale El Sol” on her Facebook. To fit the title of the November 2 release which means “the sun comes out” in English, the artwork boasts a close-up look at her posing under the sun. The 33-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter has also shot a music video for the first single from the album. Her scene which was filmed in Barcelona included riding on the back seat of a motorcycle. This filming reportedly is under investigation from local authorities since she rode the bike without helmet and that is considered illegal. In an effort to promote the album, Shakira will be mapping out an “interactive tour” this winter and already promised the upcoming Tour of Earthly Delights will be unlike any other. She will kick off the gig on September 15 in Montreal, QC and continue through December 20 in London. Moreover, her life on the road will be captured on cameras and featured in a new British reality series titled “Katy Brand Meets”.
