The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker is among the acts who have signed up to feature on the new series of Katy Brand Meets, which will air in the U.K. this autumn. Comedienne Brand will follow Shakira, as well as Mr Hudson, The Hoosiers and Sean Kingston, as they promote their music and meet fans on the road.

Celebrities design backpacks for charity

Singer Shakira, actresses Eva Longoria and Salma Hayek are part of a team of famous stars who designed backpacks for the Beyond the Backpack charity campaign. The bags will be auctioned online to raise funds for educational programs. The three beauties join the celebrity team, including Jessica Alba, Matthew McConaughey, Heidi Klum, for creating bags in support of the good cause. The bags are handmade and with unique design, some of them have autographs from Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, baseball star James LeBron, will be presented from Tuesday in the grand windows of the biggest department store in the world – Macy’s in Manhattan until September 2.

Shakira’s ‘Interactive’ Tour

Shakira is planning an “interactive” UK tour this winter. The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker has been working alongside theatre director Felix Barrett for her upcoming Tour Of Earthly Delights, and promises an “energetic” performance, which could see fans allowed to wander around on stage. She explained: “I’m going to be in the UK this December working with Felix. He’s one of those golden minds so I’m designing the show with him. It’s going to have themes and there’ll be a lot of audience interaction. “My live show will have a lot of that, a lot of dancing, a joie de vivre. I feel such freedom on stage. It’s such a rush to be performing. I like to see everybody’s faces on stage, to see the reaction. Normally you can only see the front row because of the lights.” The Columbian singer – who performed at Britain’s Glastonbury festival in June – revealed fans can expect to see a similar performance to that which was seen at the iconic music event. She added to the Daily Star newspaper: “You’ll see a lot of the energy you saw during my Glastonbury festival appearance, but there are also going to be other moments that I hope are artistically energetic. I want to feel things up close. “My vibe is to gather different influences from all over and put them together with my own style.” Shakira’s world tour comes to the UK on December 14 – kicking off in Manchester – and runs until December 20.

Colombian superstar Shakira has bottled up the secret to her sex appeal – she’s launched her own signature perfume. The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker has followed in the footsteps of her pop peers Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears by entering the cosmetics industry in a deal with Puig. The singer says, “The type of women who feel a connection with this fragrance would be independent and strong, but also a woman with a great capacity to love and a strong sense of who they are. It’s for a woman who believes in herself. “Like one of my songs, I wanted S by Shakira to tell a story, and to be something personal and unique. A perfume has to really reflect something inside you, make you connect with it in an emotional way.” S by Shakira, which features notes of jasmine and sandalwood, will go on sale in September with prices starting from $17 (£11).
